MPU And It's Antidote

MPU And It’s Antidote

Mindless Phone Usage (MPU). I first got introduced with this term while reading Tim Ferris (Author of four hour work-week & Tribes of Mentor) Article and that term hit me hard. Can you recall that how many times each day we put out our phone out for absolutely no reason?

Instagram. Snapchat. Twitter. Tinder.

Refresh. Swipe up. Like. Heart

MPU. Ugh.

In a nutshell it is correct to say that MPU is stealing our Humanity.

So what’s the Anti-Dote?

·       Few Weeks before I intentionally delete all the social media apps from my phone. YES delete them from your phone right now. That doesn’t mean that I don’t use social media, yes I do but on my computer sometimes. So what benefit it does that to me? Well it creates friction because now I have to open my laptop type in credentials and then I can access them.

·       You cannot remove a habit from your system but you can do is replace it. ( I will talk about this more in the later blog post) so try to find a more meaningful, productive and creative habit instead which increases your potential like for me I replaced MPU with Reading, Blogging, Photography, Journalling.

RESULT – I’ve stopped mindlessly checking Instagram and snapchat. I have stopped using facebook on mobile at all. I don’t refresh my inbox. I don’t fill awkward silences with technology.

I can’t stress how important this shift has been for me.
